Get up and running with TaxiSolo Assistant in just a few minutes

1. Installation & First Launch

1Download & Install

Download TaxiSolo Assistant from the Google Play Store or install the APK file provided by your fleet manager.

2First Launch

Tap the TaxiSolo Assistant icon to launch the app. You'll see the welcome screen and login prompt.

2. First Time Setup

1Login or Create Account

On the main website, click "Continue with Google" in the header. This will open a pop-up allowing you to sign in or create a new account using your Google credentials. The system handles both scenarios automatically.

If you select a specific plan from the pricing table, you will be taken to a page to finalize your account creation with that plan.

2Profile Setup

Complete your driver profile with essential information:

  • Full Name: Your legal name as it appears on your license
  • Driver License Number: Your taxi/private hire license
  • Phone Number: Your contact number for customers
  • Email: For booking confirmations and reports

3Vehicle Information

Add your vehicle details:

  • Registration Number: Your vehicle's license plate
  • Make & Model: e.g., "Ford Galaxy" or "Toyota Prius"
  • Passenger Capacity: Maximum number of passengers
  • Vehicle Type: Saloon, Estate, MPV, Wheelchair Accessible, etc.

3. Essential Permissions

📍 Why Permissions Matter: TaxiSolo Assistant needs certain permissions to provide full functionality. Don't worry - your privacy is protected and data is only used for app features.

1Location Services (Required)

What it does: Enables GPS tracking, navigation, and automatic mileage calculation.

How to enable:

  • Tap "Allow" when prompted
  • Choose "Allow all the time" for best experience
  • This enables background location tracking during shifts

2Phone & SMS (Required)

What it does: Allows calling customers and sending booking confirmations.

How to enable:

  • Tap "Allow" for Phone permission
  • Tap "Allow" for SMS permission
  • These enable the integrated dialer and messaging features

3Camera (Optional)

What it does: Enables accident reporting and photo documentation.

How to enable: Tap "Allow" when prompted, or enable later in Settings.

4Contacts (Recommended)

What it does: Automatically saves customer details and enables quick calling.

How to enable: Tap "Allow" to enable automatic contact management.

⚠️ Important: If you skip permissions now, you can enable them later in your device Settings > Apps > TaxiSolo Assistant > Permissions.

4. Basic Navigation

1Main Menu

The app uses a bottom navigation bar with five main sections:

  • 🏠 Home: Dashboard with shift status and quick actions
  • 📅 Bookings: Create and manage private hire bookings
  • 🚖 Rank: Taxi rank operations and queue management
  • 📋 Jobs: View active and completed jobs
  • ⚙️ Settings: App configuration and preferences

2Dashboard Overview

Your home dashboard shows:

  • Shift Status: Whether you're currently working
  • Today's Earnings: Total revenue for current shift
  • Active Jobs: Current and upcoming bookings
  • Quick Actions: Start shift, create booking, view map

3Side Menu

Tap the hamburger menu (☰) for additional options:

  • Daily Reports
  • Expense Tracking
  • Accident Reports
  • Help & Support

5. Your First Shift

1Starting Your Shift

Before you can take bookings, you need to start your shift:

  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap the large "Start Shift" button
  • The app will record your start time and enable GPS tracking
  • You'll see "Shift Active" status in green

✅ Shift Started! You'll now see your shift timer running and can begin taking bookings. The app is tracking your location and will calculate mileage automatically.

2What Happens During Your Shift

While your shift is active, the app automatically:

  • Tracks Time: Records your working hours
  • Monitors Location: Uses GPS for navigation and mileage
  • Calculates Earnings: Updates your daily total as you complete jobs
  • Manages Jobs: Shows upcoming bookings and alerts

6. Creating Your First Booking

1Access Booking Screen

There are several ways to create a booking:

  • Tap "Bookings" in the bottom navigation
  • Use the "New Booking" quick action on the dashboard
  • Tap the "+" floating action button

2Enter Customer Details

Fill in the customer information:

  • Customer Name: First and last name
  • Phone Number: Contact number (will be saved automatically)
  • Special Requirements: Wheelchair access, child seat, etc.

3Set Pickup Location

Choose the pickup location:

  • Search: Type an address or postcode
  • Map: Tap on the map to select location
  • Current Location: Use your current GPS position
  • Favorites: Select from saved locations

4Set Destination

Enter the drop-off location using the same methods as pickup. You can also:

  • Add multiple destinations for complex journeys
  • Set waypoints for stops along the route
  • Leave destination blank for "as directed" jobs

5Schedule the Journey

Set when the journey should happen:

  • ASAP: Immediate pickup (default)
  • Scheduled: Set specific date and time
  • Recurring: Set up regular appointments

6Review & Confirm

Before saving, review:

  • Route: Check pickup and drop-off locations
  • Fare Estimate: Automatic calculation based on distance and time
  • Journey Time: Estimated duration
  • Customer Details: Ensure contact information is correct

Tap "Save Booking" to confirm and add to your job list.

🎉 Booking Created! Your first booking is now saved and will appear in your Jobs list. You'll receive notifications when it's time for pickup.
